The programme is for young people aged 16-24 who are not in work, education or training, facing long term unemployment and disadvantage or potentially at risk of (re-)offending or anti-social behaviour.

Following outreach preparation and assessment, a 3-week course consisting of:

  • Bike construction and maintenance- including daily workshop sessions delivered by our partners and working towards either the Velotech Bronze Award or City and Guilds certification
  • Employability sessions working towards an Employability Award SCQF Level 4 and iHASCO modules in manual handling and fire safety

Following the course, support will be provided from Venture Trust's Employability Team which is guided by the participants' individual goals and personal action plans.

The programme can be a progression route for participants from other Venture Trust programmes but places are also available to external clients who meet the criteria and are assessed as ready for the programme by our Employability Team.

The Cashback Change Cycle programme will aim to work with 256 young people over three years, supporting their progression onto education, training, volunteering, work experience or employment, increasing the stability of their lives and ensuring they break a potential long-term cycle of disadvantage. We aim to:

  • build their capacity and confidence to share ideas, represent views, give/receive feedback, ask for help, and to accept the opinion of others.
  • develop their ability to set clear goals, deal with challenge, manage time, and take personal responsibility
  • increase their aspirations and have the tools to move towards employment, education or training.
